Gather Your Evidence At least one or more of the following: Contracts, receipts, messages, voicemails, recordings, photos, and bank statements. 

Protect Your Privacy

Redact: Hide full bank/credit card numbers, phone numbers, and email addresses. Leave last 4 digits visible (e.g., XXXX-1234). How: Use a black marker on printed copies before you scan them or photograph them with your phone. You can use a blur app if you have one too. Why: Protects your privacy and prevents legal issues.

Write Your Story 

Your story should be a summary. Fill in the boxes below. Use this structure to break it up:

  1. Introduction (up to 200 words): One sentence summary: I paid for 4 cords of firewood but Joe Shady only delivered two. He keeps promising to deliver the rest but never does. Its been six weeks. 
  2. What Happened (up to 200 words): Describe events chronologically with specific dates and details.
  3. Evidence (up to 200 words): List and briefly describe your evidence is. Example canceled checks, pictures, contract, emails, texts
  4. Resolution Attempts (up to 200 words): Detail your efforts to fix the situation
  5. Impact (up to 200 words): Explain personal consequences and why readers should care

Tips: Write like you're telling a friend. Use sensory details and emotions. Stick to facts, not rants.
