This is Steven Chayer with the DisputeVoice Consumer Protection Minute.
If you’ve been scammed, suspect fraud, or want protection?
You’re in the right place.

Listen up, because American Express doesn’t exactly advertise these seven rights, and knowing them is like having a secret weapon in your wallet. First, you’ve got 120 days from the transaction date to dispute—that’s twice what some cards give you. Second, Amex must acknowledge your dispute within 30 days. No two ways about it, they can’t ghost you like that sketchy contractor who took your deposit.

Third, temporary credits are your friend—Amex often issues them while investigating. Fourth, you can dispute charges even if you authorized them initially but the merchant pulled a bait-and-switch. Fifth, documentation beats desperation every time—keep everything, and I mean everything. Sixth, you can appeal their initial decision with new evidence. And seventh, here’s the kicker—Amex tends to side with cardholders more than other issuers, especially on service disputes.

Think of your chargeback rights like insurance you already paid for. You wouldn’t skip filing a claim after a fender bender, would you? Same principle here, folks.
